NASA has revealed its efforts to create a human landing system shortly after it announced the Artemis lunar exploration program. The space agency has teamed up with 11 private space companies, including SpaceX and Blue Origin, to conduct studies and build prototypes of a lander that can carry astronauts to the surface of the moon. NASA is awarding the companies a total of $45.5 million to work on the project over the next six months under the Next Space Technologies for Exploration Partnerships program.
The agency is hoping the initiative could lead to the development of a human landing system that includes a transfer vehicle astronauts can use from its proposed orbital moon base called the Gateway to low-lunar orbit. In addition, the lander must also have a descent element that can carry the astronauts to the lunar surface and an ascent element that can ferry them back up to the Gateway. Finally, NASA wants the lander and its components to have refueling abilities to make them reusable.

Sony is no longer content to wait for media giants to produce shows based on its games. The company has formed a PlayStation Productions studio that will produce movies and TV shows based on games. Sony Studios will help distribute the material, but it's otherwise in-house -- it won't license brands like other gaming giants have in the past. The company's Shawn Layden told Hollywood Reporter that this wasn't just an opportunity to extend the experience of a game (and thus make more money), but also a chance to address Hollywood's notorious inability to translate games to the big screen.
Many directors and screenwriters "didn't understand that [game] world or the gaming thing," Layden said, arguing that they frequently do little more than retell a game's plot. Instead, PlayStation Productions was eyeing Marvel's wildly successful approach and even talked to key industry figures like Kevin Feige to "get an understanding of the industry." Sony is more familiar with the franchises and knows what its fans like, so why shouldn't it produce its own movies and shows?

For active duty military members, playing video games can help release stress, build camaraderie and offer comforting familiarity in foreign environments. For Veterans returning from combat, gaming can reduce isolation, renew connections with fellow service members and provide therapeutic benefits.
Recognizing the unique value of gaming for the military community, Microsoft is partnering with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to provide Xbox Adaptive Controller units to 22 initial VA rehab centers across the U.S.
Launched in 2018, the Xbox Adaptive Controller was created to make gaming accessible to players with limited mobility by enabling them to customize their setups and connect with external devices like buttons, switches and joysticks that accommodate their playing. The controller, which can be used to play Xbox One and Windows 10 PC games, was developed after extensive consultation with gamers, accessibility advocates and nonprofits that work with gamers with limited mobility, including Veterans.

Young people are having less sex. It's true. We are in the midst of a sex recession. Numerous studies show couples are getting it on less while high school students are staying virgins for longer.
With each study, a host of social evils gets brushed off and one or the other blamed for the emerging international loss of libido. The list includes stress, rates of anxiety, antidepressants, stagnating wages and economic pressures, dating apps, digital distractions like social media and Netflix, sleep deprivation, obesity, vibrators, and, of course, good ol' porn.
Experts studying this decade-long decline say they're "staggered at how little sex Americans are having - including the Millenials."
"Several factors are likely to explain the declines, but one may be the sheer pace of modern life," a British study that came out this week noted.
It found the decline in sexual frequency coincided with two events - the introduction of the iPhone in 2007 and the global recession of 2008.

When Mark Zuckerberg proclaimed from the F8 2019 stage that “the future is private…” he could have appended “…messaging apps, some of which we own.” As the social juggernaut shifts its weight toward privacy (maybe for real this time) and to the notion of the digital living room instead of the digital town square, the practical focus is on the company’s robust portfolio of messaging and app-based social services. What was not mentioned during F8 last week was how these changes may affect Facebook’s various chatbots.
Chatbots can provide what amounts to an extension of Facebook Messenger’s capabilities by adding a layer of artificial intelligence to the interactions between a user and a business. A simplistic example is booking a haircut or reserving a table at a restaurant. These sorts of interactions can be automated, and doing so with a chatbot can give customers a sense that they’ve interacted with the business rather than a faceless calendar system.
