AWAKE Companion Book and Soundtrack CD to be Released in 2015

Awake Book

March 26, 2015

It is so inspiring to hear the many stories of those who have been drawn to Paramahansa Yogananda following their viewing of AWAKE: The Life of Yogananda, and the repeated trips to the movie theatre by so many to view the film again…and again!

Many inquiries have come in from moviegoers around the country asking whether a DVD or soundtrack CD will be made available in the months to come. We are pleased to announce that plans have been solidified for a number of new items related to the film:
  • A soundtrack CD of the film’s mesmerizing music along withexcerpts featuring Paramahansaji’s spoken words in the film — to be released later this Spring.
  • A new companion book for the AWAKE movie. Scheduled for release this fall, this deluxe coffee table edition will feature:
Previously unpublished images of Paramahansaji shown in the film

 The entire screenplay

The backstory of making the film

A pre-order option on Amazon available in March
  • Later this year, the film will become available on DVD, as well as through Netflix and other digital sources.
Stay tuned for updates on all these items in the coming months on the AWAKE and SRF websites, as well as in future eNewsletters.

More than 500 AWAKE moviegoers showed up to see the
premiere  of the film in Sarasota, Florida last November.

In other news, the international distribution of AWAKE has officially begun with distribution scheduled in France, Australia, and New Zealand. Strong interest has been expressed by distributors in other countries around the globe, and we’ll keep you posted as we learn more. (As previously mentioned, the film has already begun screening in Canada to enthusiastic audiences, including most recently in Montreal in a French-subtitled version).

In the US, the film continues to screen in theatres around the country through traditional means as well as through the theatrical on-demand service, Gathr®, which makes it possible for anyone to request a screening regardless of whether they live in a large or small town – as long as  a set minimum number of advance ticket purchases are made by individual movie goers. (Anyone can volunteer to be a Gathr movie captain to spread the word about the film in their area and help to fill seats.) More information about how to become a Gathr movie captain in your locale is available from the film’s website atwww.awaketheyoganandamovie.com.

A full house at a Gathr screening in Hartford, Connecticut

Many inspiring stories have been shared by Gathr volunteers. In Hartford, Connecticut, for example, the Gathr movie captain there reported Over 230 souls radiated their energy along with Swami Yogananda. Awesome night.

According to the Gathr movie captain in a small town in south Louisiana, the film reached its quota in just three days and sold out in less than a week. In Corvallis, Oregon, the Gathr showing sold out in two theatres every night for the three nights they had booked. And, in Indianapolis, Indiana, there were four sold out screenings of the film, of which the Indianapolis movie captain said, The real star power is Yogananda. I am humbled by how many people have readAutobiography of a Yogi and whose lives have been touched by his life and his message.”
